Ah, summer! It’s finally here. We know many of you are thrilled to start enjoying the beach, lake, and pool! By following our S.W.I.M. S.A.F.E. guide, you and your child can enjoy the water and reduce the risk of accidents/injury.

Swimming lessons – children should take swimming lessons as early as possible. Getting them acclimated to the water and teaching them how to enjoy the water safely at a young age will set them up for success.
Watch carefully – never take your eyes off young or inexperienced swimmers while they are in the water. If you are swimming in a spot where there is no lifeguard on duty, make sure there is at least one adult who is always monitoring the water.
Insist on a buddy – if you have an older, stronger swimmer (think teenagers), make sure they have a buddy with them when they swim no matter what.
Move out when it’s unsafe – if you see darkening skies, choppy water, or cold/fatigued swimmers, it’s time to leave or move to a safer area.

Sunscreen is a must – and make sure to take breaks periodically to reapply!
Attire should be bold – if you are taking young swimmers to the pool, dress them in a swimsuit that will be easy to spot in blue water.
Follow pool/beach rules – if you are at a public pool or beach, make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules. They are there to keep you and your family safe.
Educate yourself – learn CPR. You never know when you might need to come to the aid of a swimmer in distress.
And as always, if you have questions or concerns, give us a call! Now get out and have some fun 😊
